The ABC's of Leadership
This book lists and discusses 26 leadership traits and behaviors, one for each letter of the alphabet, that successful leaders exhibit to the right audience at the right time and place. Hall offers each trait as one of many that constitute a good leader. "Leadership is about the ability to influence others to do what you want them to do," and encourage others to "reach for heights they never envisioned, " Hall says, "This book is designed to promote leadership behaviors that inspire others."
Both first-time and experienced leaders can benefit from the ABC's of Leadership. The traits and behaviors stem from Hall's professional experiences as a leader himself, as well as his experience as an entrepreneur. Beginning with the letter "A, " the first trait is "adversity." Quotes that demonstrate the trait and a story to illustrate the point are included in the selection. Hall describes a situation when his son was cut from the basketball team and gives his son advice. "Son!" I said. "You have two choices. You can be a victim and feel sorry for yourself, or you can go out there and prove the coach wrong!"
Hall offers examples of when the trait can be applied in daily life, but it does not bog readers down with countless examples. "The leader must use his/her discretion in determining which behavior to engage in," he says. "The more tools one has, the greater the potential for the persons to be successful.
